Benefits Package Overview

Marshall Municipal Utilities offers full-time employees an excellent benefit package – briefly summarized below:

GROUP INSURANCE

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage – Medical includes prescription drugs. MMU pays 100% of employee’s basic coverage and assists with dependent medical and dental coverage.

  • Short- and Long-term Disability Coverage – MMU provided coverage supplements up to 60% of income when an employee is unable to work due to illness or non-work related injury.

  • Life/Accidental Death and Dismemberment – MMU provided term life insurance.

TIME OFF

  • Vacation – New, full-time employees are credited with 40 hours of vacation time after successful completion of their probationary period (normally 6 months) and another 40 hours of vacation time on their first year anniversary date. Thereafter, vacation accrues according to the following schedule:

    One (1) to four (4) years: 3.25 hrs per pay period
    (84.5 hrs per year)
    Five (5) to nine (9) years: 4 hrs per pay period
    (104 hrs per year)
    Ten (10) to fourteen (14) years: 4.75 hrs per pay period
    (123.5 hrs per year)
    Fifteen (15) to nineteen (19) years: 5.5 hrs per pay period
    (143 hrs per year)
    Twenty (20) to twenty-four (24) years: 6.25 hrs per pay period
    (162.5 hrs per year)
    Twenty-five or more years: 7 hrs per pay period
    (182 hrs per year)
  • Forty (40) hours personal time per year

  • Holidays – Eight (8) holidays plus three (3) “floating” holidays per year.

  • Bereavement Leave – Up to three (3) days paid per occurrence.

TAX-DEFERRAL AND RETIREMENT

  • Section 125 Cafeteria plan (premium only) – This plan allows the individual to pay for some health benefits with pre-tax dollars.

  • 457 Deferred Compensation Plan – The employee may elect to defer a portion of wages before taxes.

  • LAGERS Retirement Plan – Contributions to the Missouri Local Government Employees Retirement System (LAGERS) are paid in full by MMU. Eligibility for full retirement benefits begins at age sixty (60).
