"Providing Hometown Reliability"
December 15, 2017: Marshall -
Marshall Municipal Utilities has announced Jerry Bowlen as their "Employee of the Year" for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2017. Bowlen was selected by a
group of his peers from 8 nominations out off a pool of approximately 90 eligible employees.
In nominating Bowlen, Electric Production Director Carl Crawford noted the initiative Bowlen has taken during his rounds roving on the midnight to eight shift at the Power Plant.
"I have noticed Jerry taking initiative during his rounds roving to take care of maintenance items such as washing down equipment and painting over those years," said Crawford.
Crawford continued, "Recently, while dispatching, Jerry received a disturbing call in the early morning hours from a customer. He handled the call very professionally and called the business office leaving a voicemail to inform them what this individual said and to be expecting him first thing when the office opened. Jerry also followed up by calling the office when personnel arrived to make sure they got the message so they were able to take necessary measures to ensure employees' safety."
Crawford's nomination concluded, "This is just one more example of the reliability and dedication Jerry has displayed during his 39 years with MMU."
Bowlen began his employment with MMU in November 1978 as a maintenance worker at the Power Plant. In November 1992, he moved from maintenance to the Operator position that he holds today.
